Powder Mag Spotlights Tahoe Relief Power
The strength of this relief-movement only grows as time goes on and the need increases. We have innovated, recruited, and evolved. Our robust, determined team hopes to lead by example, showing other communities that power and capability radiates from unity.
In a May 12 article, Powder Magazine reports on their interview with Tahoe professional skier, Michelle Parker, about her remarkable role with our team, the Tahoe/Truckee Emergency Relief Fund, now fondly referred to as TTERF.
She speaks about her involvement in this movement of individuals standing up, implementing creative ideas to get emergency aid out to people in need. As mentioned in a past post, Michelle started the Tahoe Truckee Strong auction-fundraiser filled with donated ski-treasures from fellow professionals that she recruited, including the famed Jeremy Jones.
Powder Mag and Michelle also mention TTERf’s genesis and evolution.
“‘Amie Quirarte, a local real estate agent started the fund. [The TTERF] works with Tahoe Truckee People, which is a 501(c)(3), to allow people to chip in via taxable donations. Quirarte started the Facebook donation page along with a GoFundMe to help people pay rent, and to help assist in delivering meals.'”
She notes that what we need most at the moment, to fuel our momentum, is monetary donations. You can donate here.
Thank you again to Michelle and to Powder Magazine for their involvement. With such a strong team, we are able to help real people overcome really big challenges. Read the full article from Powder Magazine here.
