Tourism Business Improvement District progress(TBID)

Recent developments from the North Tahoe Resort Association have shown promise in creating a Tourism Business Improvement District (TBID) in North Lake Tahoe. This district would help the local business community by keeping funds locally controlled and spent on tourist-community-specific needs. The following initiatives are already under development within the formation of the ‘TBID.’
- $4.1 Million | In Transient Occupancy Tax will be redirected to the North Tahoe region for traffic and trash mitigation projects and workforce housing initiatives.
- $6 Million | In TBID revenues will establish an independent voice for North Lake Tahoe, offset tourism impacts and support local businesses.
For more information about the formation of this new North Lake Tahoe district plan, see this article by the North Tahoe Business Association, ‘NLTRA resumes TBID efforts, focusing on local control of funds and offsetting tourism impacts.’
